Missions Box Monday: Homeless & Homeless Shelters

Missions Box Monday this week is all about sharing the love of God with those that are homeless or staying in a homeless shelter.

Some things that folks that are homeless need...
  • back packs
  • soap
  • shampoo
  • comb or brush
  • deodorant
  • toilet paper
  • toothpaste
  • toothbrush
  • clean clothes
  • coats
  • hats
  • gloves
  • umbrellas
  • blankets
  • sleeping pads
  • gift cards or certificates to restaurants
  • Bible
  • address to a local center or church that supplies meals, clothing, showers, coffee or other necessities
Getting these necessities together and putting them in the back pack or finding ways to attach most of the items to the back pack makes things easiest to transport. You could make up a few of these and then keep them in your car!

Most Homeless Shelters have specific needs according to what services they offer, but an idea of some things to get you started could include:
  • Household Products and Cleaner
  • Laundry detergent
  • Dish soap
  • Trash Bags
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Napkins
  • Tissues
  • Light Bulbs
  • Bandages
  • Antibiotic ointments
  • Pain relievers
  • Children's pain relievers
  • Toothpaste
  • Dental floss
  • Deodorant
  • Feminine hygiene items
  • Diapers
  • Baby wipes
  • Shampoo for Adults and Children
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Soap for Adults and Children
  • Pillows
  • Clothing for adults and children
  • Towels
  • Pillows
  • Bedding and Linens
The Homeless Shelter that is closest to us allows folks to stay over night, but they must leave during the day. There are many children that stay there with their families.

One Christmas, we put together backpacks for the kids that included gloves, hats, and small gifts. Recently, we decided to make some snack packs.

We started by decorating a brown paper bag.

Then we choose some yummy snacks.

Each of the sacks got a hand written card.

Then the kids included some homemade gifts.

Then we added some stickers.

We put everything into the bag and they were ready to go.
