Preschool and Kindergarten Math: Comparisons with Things Around the House

We compare sizes, shapes (2-d and 3-d), and other attributes of common objects.

I grab things from around the house that have a similar color, size, shape, etc. and have the kids try to guess why they were put together.

Many times the kids come up with better ways to sort them than I do.

Objects can also make great graphing resources. For example, how many yellow, orange, white, pink, purple flowers are in the flower bed?
