Folktales with Puck of Pook's Hill & A Giveaway

May's book share with Poppins Book Nook is Folktales. We chose Puck of Pook's Hill by Rudyard Kipling

Puck of Pook's Hill is about the events that take place in the same part of Burwash in the English countryside over many, many hundreds of years. A boy and girl accidently call on Puck (the same Puck from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream) who brings them people from the past to tell them all about their lives and in turn the history of the place. The children hear tales of vikings, picts, ruins, myths, Romans, kings, centurions, knights, Hadrian's wall, treasure, and more. As is common in Kipling's work, a poem is included with each chapter. You can read an online version of the book here: Puck of Pook's Hill.

We decided this book would be just terrific to use with a timeline or our book of centuries. So that is exactly what we did. If you'd like to try out a Book of Centuries there's a free one we've made and here's how we use our book.

It is really pretty neat the way it all ties together. I need to read it again. There's a lot and I know I missed some of the links.
