Tips for a Great Picnic

Oh...summer is almost upon us. Now is the time to start planning picnics! I love a good picnic. But what makes a picnic terrific or blah?

First, if you don't already have them, a wicker picnic basket and a beautiful blanket to spread on a picnic table or on the ground are a must.

Second, bringing a book or Frisbee or something special to do just before or a little while after eating can add a little something special.

Third, the food of course.

Here are our favorite picnic meals...

All the Way Subs
Subs made to order
Crackers or Natural Chips
Bananas and Grapes
Cookies

Farmer's Market Dash
Fresh veggies and fruit from the stand
Homemade bread and cheeses
Hand-pies

Grilled Goodies
Burgers
Corn (grilled in husk)
Peaches (grilled)

Take-Out
Your favorite take-out food...
Fried Chicken with sides or
Pizza or
Chinese or
Even the really nice restaurants have take-out
Add a watermelon to round it out

Grocery Store Stop
Hit the Deli and the Bakery

Bento Picnics
Everyone gets their own bento boxes with cheeses, meats, veggies, and fruits.

 It's a Wrap
Wrap up anything you would put in a sandwich in a pita or tortilla
Strawberries and Blueberries
Cucumbers and carrots

Fourth, don't forget the napkins and silverware or serving dishes if necessary.

Fifth, bring lots and lots of water!

Wishing you homeschool and picnicing blessings,

My brain usually fades about a couple of days before a picnic. Now I'll be on top of it too!
