Teaching Odd and Even

We go over even and odd for 3 weeks. I start by explaining that we say things are even when everyone gets their fair share. If  numbers can be split between two people they are called even. If not, they are odd.  We used the terms even Steven and odd-man-out.

We practice with toys and beans. We start with a number of beans and try to pass them out evenly between the toys. Then we decide if they are even or odd.

We make up sock stories to determine if we have an even pair or an odd sock.

We use dominoes to decide if they are equal by make dots on paper to match the dominoes and then circling pairs.

We do some of our problems on our chalk board. ***We also had a quick word lesson for odd and dad.
