Preschool & Kindergarten Mathematics: Games

We play lots of games to create fun math experiences. Some of them we make up by drawing our own game boards on file folders and using dice or a homemade spinner; others are the usual board games that we like to play that use math.

For basic counting, we use chutes and ladders. Monopoly is great for adding and subtracting. We use Number Bingo (homemade) for number identification. You can even take board games and change the rules for more appropriate number play.

There are countless online games to choose from. We usually just type in a jumble of descriptions for games we’d like and add online games. There are almost always a couple that come up.
