What Will I be When I Grow Up with Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott & a Giveaway

August's book share with Poppins Book Nook is What Will I be When I Grow Up? We choose Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott because the children in the story learn a lot about WHO they will be when they grow up. Our children are still learning about who and what they will be when they grow up, so this is the perfect book for them.

Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott is about two friends that tumble off of their sled and are injured one winter. They spend the time bedriddern, recovering and learning a lot of lessons about growing up through their injuries.

Inspired, we are adding quotes about character and moral lessons into our Commonplace notebooks.

We've created directions for creating your own Commonplace notebook.

Here are a few quotes to get you started:

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." ~Winston Churchill

"With self-discipline most anything is possible." -~Theodore Roosevelt

"A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new."

~Albert Einstein

"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." ~Mark Twain

I am so excited! I absolutely adore Louisa May Alcott and thought I had all of her books on my shelf. You proved me wrong and I am so excited about it! I am going to have to go find this one. I like the Commonplace Book idea. What a great way to collect inspiration. - Lori H

That's one of the few Alcott books I haven't read yet. I keep intending to and then get distracted.

Yes. We don't use them enough. We really need to use them more.
