Where in the World? with Secret of the Andes & A Giveaway

Our first ever book share with Poppins Book Nook takes us on a study of the Incas, llamas, and the Andes Mountains.

Where in the World?

Secret of the Andes is about an Incan boy,Cusi, growing up in the Andes Mountains. He lives a solitary life with Chuto herding llamas in Hidden Valley. But things aren't as simple as they seem. He actually has a very large part to play in the traditions of his people if he is willing to give his life to the task. As a direct descendant to the rulers of the ancient Incans, his true identity is kept from him until the proper time comes. Cusi must decided if he will be guardian to the llamas and the hidden Incan treasures. We recommend the book for ages 10-14.

Here's our round up of crafts, activities, field trips, reading guides, lesson plans, maps, art, music, and fun to go along with Secret of the Andes.

Visit our friends and find out Where in the World? they ended up!

I love this book and activity! My husband is Peruvian so it would be a heritage lesson too! I'm definitely pinning to do this with Chiquita. This post would be great for a link-up I cohost: http://toddlefast.blogspot.com/search/label/Creative%20Kids%20Culture%20Blog%20Hop

I've never seen this book, but we just finished taking a look at some of the Central and South American cultures, so this would be a good one to add to our book basket.

My children have loved llamas ever since they went to a llama farm a couple of years ago, and my Dad brought them back llama toys when he went on a mission trip to Peru. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to have to try this book with them!

My kiddos are always asking to go visit the llamas. :)
