Melting Snowmen

Although we've had no snow
yet this winter.

We thought that we'd make some
snowmen anyway.

Mix 8oz white school glue

and 2 tsp. borax dissolved in 1 cup of water

in a large gallon size bag.

Squeeze it together with your hands.
When it is mostly solid,
remove it and shape it into your snowman.

Attach pieces of whatever you would like
to make the face.

Set on a plate
and watch.

It will begin to "melt."

The explanation, complete directions,
and what's happening
can be found here hooked on science.

And then, well... we played some.
I put a large blob of it on the top of my hand
and it slunk down.

Pretty cool.

Wishing you homeschool blessings,

It's like I have conflicting personalities when reading your post. On one hand, I say "Super cool, how fun!" On the other, I think "Oh my! What a mess!" :o)

Now that looks fun. :)

It's actually not messy at all. It took about 5 minutes to work its way down my hand and them peeled right off

We store it in a baggie and can use it a few more time too!
